Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. It is based on over 2000 years of developments and refinements in the Far East. Traditionally, acupuncture is a holistic approach to the management of disease as well as the maintenance of health.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture diagnoses the body as a whole not just focusing on the problem, therefore discovering the underlying causes of problems. This provides lasting health changes and improvement to quality of life. The insertion of fine needles into specific points along the meridians manipulate the flow of Qi, by unblocking and moving; or by redirecting the Qi to where it is needed most. Once the correct flow has been restored, the body can again function as it should.

Acupuncture is offered by Alex Boylan a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).

What does it feel like?

There is no real sensation as the needle is inserted through the skin, but as the needle is moved the patient should feel a ‘dull ache’ or a slight tingly sensation.

Who can it help?

There is no set number of conditions treatable. The following list is a guide to give you an idea of what acupuncture can be used to treat.

Addictions, Allergies, Bells Palsy, Blood Pressure (High/Low), Bowel Problems, Chest Problems (Asthma etc), Dizziness, Eye Problems, Headaches, Kidney Disorders, Infertility, Impotence, Mental/Emotional disorders, Migraines, ME, Pregnancy, Birth, Postnatal, Muscular and Skeletal Problems (Arthritis, Sports Injury etc), skin Complaints, Stomach Problems, Stress, Stroke, Tiredness, Sleeping Disorders, Weight (Gain and Loss)
Acupuncture may not be a cure for major destructive diseases; however, it can effectively alleviate pain and ease symptoms in pathological and neurological disorders.

All treatments are conducted with strict patient-practitioner confidentiality and hygiene standards as set by Manchester City Councils. Registration has been made with the British Acupuncture Council and aims to comply with the BAcC’s strict guidelines.
