Reflexology

Reflexology dates back thousands of years to China, India and Ancient Egypt where pressure therapy was used to correct energy fields in the body. In the 1930’s Eunice Ingram developed this therapy further into what is known today as reflexology.
Illness can occur when ‘energy channels’ in the body are blocked, causing damage to one area of the body.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy which involves a method of treatment using massage to reflex areas found in the feet to destroy these blocks, allowing energy to flow freely again and so to heal the damage.

These reflex areas correspond to all parts of the body and are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body in the feet . The right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot to the left side of the body. Thus it becomes possible to treat the whole body and the body as a whole.

Our resident reflexologists is Natasha Joels

Reflexology helps heal the whole person, not just the prevailing symptoms.

Numerous disorders seem to respond well to reflexology, these include: Back pain, migraine, infertility, arthritis, sleep disorder, hormonal imbalance, sports injury, digestive disorders and stress—related conditions. Reflexology does not claim to be a cure all, diagnose or prescribe.

What will happen when I come for treatment?

Your initial treatment will last 90minutes. Our reflexology practitioner will do a consultation with you to establish your present and past health and lifestyle.

You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks and lie on a massage couch. The reflexologist will then examine your feet and begin to apply pressure. Each therapy session will be unique to the individual.

Our professionally trained practitioners will be able to detect subtle tensions in the feet, and by working on these points may affect the corresponding part of the body.

Your body may respond very definitely after the first treatment, most people feel very calm and relaxed.

It is important to note changes in your mental and physical state after the session as it shows your therapist how your body is responding to treatment.

Subsequent treatments will last 60 minutes. A course of treatment may be recommended depending on the condition being treated.
